Orthodontists are trained to evaluate and correct problems related to the position and development of the teeth and jaw structures. There is a lot more to our specialty than braces,
wires and retainers. A scientific research project and thesis is required to receive specialist status in Ontario and you cannot combine general dentistry and orthodontic services in
the same practice. The consumer should be aware of this fact and understand that an orthodontist is extensively trained, provincially licensed and certified by the Royal College of
Dental Surgeons of Ontario to have the skills, expertise and experience to provide consistent quality orthodontic care.
